On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great honor and pleasure to invite you to the 33rd congress of International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists, which will be held as an in-person meeting in Istanbul, Turkey from the 28th of September to the 1st of October 2022. IASGO 33 will cover all areas of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery, Gastrointestinal Surgery, and Oncology from a multidisciplinary perspective. Furthermore, this meeting will provide an opportunity for all participants to meet a large group of eminent experts to discuss emerging issues and exchange the latest information in their fields.

Let’s come together to fulfill the unique goals of IASGO to improve the standard of Medical Care by promoting Innovation and Multidisciplinary Approaches for the Treatment of GI Diseases and share the latest medical knowledge and expertise.

IASGO Turkey - About İstanbul

Istanbul is one of the most popular cities that hosts thousands of events every year. This year, Istanbul will welcome the best surgeons and doctors around the world in IASGO 33rd World Congress.  International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists (IASGO) selected Istanbul as its next congress destination. This amazing city offers an exciting environment and rich attractions to congress participants.

Istanbul is a perfect destination for organising a medical congress. The participants can enjoy a vibrant and beautiful city while attending one of the most important medical events of the year. In general, the congress locations are close to the Istanbul city centre. Also, congress organizers can book an Istanbul sightseeing tour for the participants.

Istanbul has a rich history dating back to the 7th century BC. For this reason, the city played an important role throughout history. Thanks to this old history, the city has witnessed numerous empires, states and governments. All of these past empires have left their mark on the city. It is possible to see monuments from the Byzantine era as well as mosques from the Ottoman Empire period. Moreover, there are ruins from the ancient times as well.

There are numerous attractions in Istanbul. This way the congress participants can also visit these historical places in the city while attending the congress. Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, Galata Tower, Taksim Square, İstiklal Avenue, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Prince’s Islands are some of the main attractions in the city. The Hippodrome is another place to see in Istanbul. Visitors can walk around the square to see the monuments and visit Istanbul Archaeology Museum. In addition, Grand Bazaar, Spice Bazaar is an interesting place to see different herbs and spices. The visitors can mix up with the locals and enjoy an authentic experience. Chora Museum and Dolmabahçe Museum are other options to see the diverse history of Istanbul. The city is right at the intersection of the Asian and European continents.  This characteristic further makes the city an attractive place with Bosporus and Marmara Sea. The visitors can enjoy a luxury Bosporus yacht tour in their free time. Seeing Istanbul from the sea is an experience of a lifetime.

In addition to sightseeing, visitors can enjoy delicious food in Istanbul. Istanbul and Turkey have rich cuisine including kebab and baklava. The visitors enjoy this delicious food and unique experience. While the hotels often offer continental breakfast, it is possible to find authentic restaurants in Istanbul.
